Sooo many recipes, soooo little time!

Me, Arlene, with my beloved, David, at our Montana home.
Sooo many recipes, soooo little time!
I LOVE cookbooks– I have several hundred. I especially love ones with pictures!
But does that make me a fabulous cook? Do I IMPRESS my family and friends because I have an extraordinary collection of recipes and resources to draw upon when I decide to make a meal?
No. Not even close!
And to be honest (I’m not going to lie) when I want to cook, my first move is … to go to my computer! (Which by the way, hangs out directly under the cupboard that has “my cookbook library”). Now, I find that my wonderful compendium of pictures and ingredients collects dust and neglect as I go to my “tried and true” or “borrowed and proven” recipes stored in my old recipe box in my pantry.
So when I decided that I wanted to start a blog, I wanted to start one that featured my favorites, or the recipes that get the response, “Can I get your recipe for that?”
You see, I remember when I was a newly wed, I would try out many cookbook recipes and be disappointed, not only with the taste results, but also with the fact that I had wasted $$ on a creation that we had to swallow only so we didn’t waste any of our meager food budget. My lesson learned? I began to ask women around me for their best pie recipe, or how they made their wonderful Mac n’ Cheese! (Never mind that my wonderful mother in law shared her Mac n’ Cheese version with me but neglected to tell me to boil the macaroni first– no wonder the top was crunchy!) Obviously I was more than a beginner– I was 100% CLUELESS!
Fast forward 38 years—to today. Here is my launch of what I hope will be one your favorite sites to visit: only my Best recipes!

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I get 4 emails using the same comment. Is there any way it is easy to get rid of me from that service? Thanks!

I will see what I can do. Not sure why that is happening.
You have come a long way. Too busy in high school with cheer leading to take an interest in cooking. Necessity is the mother of invention. You used to make a a wicked ” Cherries Jubilee” because you loved the fire part. Ha Ha It was and is delicious. Carry on.
Yes– I don’t really remember the Cherries Jubilee, but I will take your word for it! Keep reading, mom. Did you subscribe? Please make sure you do so that you get notifications that I have added a new post.
Made the Mile High Biscuits today and next time I am going to make them with baking powder that didn’t expire August 2008…, lol. (My sister doesn’t bake all that often)! Regardless, they turned out pretty good anyway, about 3/4 of a mile high. Loved the pictures of your stuffed dishwasher and am going to try some of those suggestions also. Keep up the good work, love the site.
Oh, that is important.
And one more hint: you can actually roll the dough 1 inch thick and get great results, too. I just like to get more biscuits..
Thanks for checking out my site– did you sign in to follow? I added a new recipe today. Another tried and true and super simple side dish!
I was surprise you had forgotten the Cherries Jubilee, You almost set the dinning table on fire. We did love it though. I know where you got that love of fire. Ha Ha.
